Drug Rehab Clinic - Which Is The Best?
The main focus of any drug rehab clinic is to support and encourage the full recovery from drug addiction. While the short term goal is to provide a safe place for beginning the road to recovery, the long term goal is to remain sober.
Often, a drug rehab clinic offers many supportive services. There are on site medical staff to support patients through the initial withdrawal period, and that can assure the safety of the patient. Drug rehab clinics also offer on site therapists. The clinic staff works with each patient individually to customize a treatment plan that suits the needs of the patient.
Most drug rehab clinics offer both inpatient and outpatient services. In patient services provide intensive twenty four hour care. Inpatient care is typically more effective than outpatient care. However, outpatient services also offer many benefits. Outpatients attend therapy and other recovery related activities during the day, and return to their home for the evening.
Drug rehab clinics offer several types of therapy.
One on one therapy is dedicated to helping patients learn new behavioral and cognitive strategies to remain sober. These strategies assist patients once they leave the drug rehab clinic to resist social and emotional pressure to use drugs or alcohol. Also, any underlying mental disorders can be diagnosed in individual therapy. (These disorders, if left untreated, are often an underlying cause or large factor of drug or alcohol use.)
Family and group therapy are both common types of therapy used in drug rehab clinics.
Family therapy emphasizes restoring family relationships that have been damaged by addiction. Many families also have questions about addiction, and these answers are found through informative and supportive serviced provided in family therapy.
Group therapy is perhaps the most common form of therapy aside from individual therapy. Group therapy allows patients to form new friendships. Group therapy also promotes personal growth and gives patients an opportunity to share problem solving skills.
Many drug rehab clinics include extended group therapy, and often refer patients to community based programs. These programs offer support, friendships, and often provide a mentor to recovering drug addicts. These mentors can provide support and guidance during the first months of life at home, when social and emotional pressures can be most difficult.
Additionally, some drug rehab clinics offer extended care in the form of sober living communities. Sober living communities are similar to group homes. Sober living communities are located in a wide variety of areas, and can offer a recovering patient prolonged support. Sober living communities also provide on site staff to assist patients with difficult situations and provide guidance and support.
"I had been attempting to get sober for over 17 years before entering Axis. Axis gave me foundation to recreate my life. For this experience I am forever grateful." -Josh L.
